#GetOut: Info for Businesses & Organizations

Getting Ottawans Out to Social Places—Like Yours!

Inspired by the theme of loneliness in our next show, Private Fears in Public Places, we’ve launched our #GetOut campaign to help people in Ottawa experiencing isolation to literally get out of their homes and have positive social interactions in safe public places. We’re boosting businesses and organizations that provide meaningful face-to-face contact in any form (from music venues to schools to game cafés to clubs…), raising their profile and encouraging people to #GetOut and visit them. We’re looking for more businesses to take part and get the #GetOut boost.

Can My Business/Organization Participate?

A good fit is any business or organization that offers:

  • A safe, accessible public location in Ottawa that members of the public can easily access
  • One or more activities (whether it’s central to what you do, or secondary) that offers members of the public a safe, positive social experience. For example:
    • music or other performing arts venues
    • cafés and pubs, especially ones that offer social activities such as table-top games, trivia nights, etc.
    • schools and studios that offer drop-in classes open to the general public
  • If you think your Ottawa-based business or organization is a fit, it probably is!

What’s In It for My Business/Organization?

We boost participating businesses and organizations through…

  • Listing on our #GetOut web page
  • Listing in the printed program provided to patrons of our show Private Fears in Public Places, being presented at The Gladstone Theatre June 18-28
  • Short videos on Instagram and Facebook (e.g. our promo videos for LIVE! on Elgin and Union Studios)
  • A discount code customized to your business/org providing 10% off for tickets to Private Fears…, for you to provide as a perk to reward staff/clients/volunteers or anyone else you choose

How Do I Join the Campaign?

Plosive has no funding for this campaign, so we unfortunately can’t provide our boosts for free. But we do want to make it as affordable and easy as possible for businesses and organizations to join. To take part, instead of a sponsorship fee or other charge, we simply ask:

  1. Buy 4 regular tickets to opening night (June 19) of Private Fears… (not-for-profits and charities: buy just 2 student/artist/unwaged tickets).
  2. Email us at info@plosive.ca, citing your purchase order to show you’ve made the purchase, and provide contents for us to list you in our #GetOut campaign page:
    • Your logo (or other graphic)
    • A 50-75 word blurb describing your business or organization, and what opportunities for social contact you offer the general public
    • Your business/organization’s address
    • A link to your website

It’s as easy as that!

How Do I Know Participating Will Work Out?

The reason we’re proposing buying tickets as a way to join is to make it easy for everyone. But we understand that joining without an interview or contract may seem odd. Keep in mind:

  • You aren’t paying a sponsorship fee for the boosting services, you’re buying tickets that have their own intrinsic value.
  • Tickets to Private Fears… are fully refundable. If you aren’t fully satisfied with your participation in the campaign, cancel your tickets to get your money back.

Want More Info Before Joining the Campaign?

If you aren’t sure if your business or organization qualifies, have other questions, or are hesitant to pull the trigger by buying tickets, we’re happy to talk. Contact us at info@plosive.ca to discuss the campaign and whether/how your business or organization can take part.
